Man I was reading Pastor’s Tong’s sermon, and he’s talking about Augustine’s explanation of sin.  Because if you read the Bible closely, you know that it uses sin in both singular and plural form.  When it uses “sins”, it usually refers to the acts that violates the Laws of God, but when it uses “sin” (Maybe capital S), it seems like it’s much more than acts; it seems like a person that dominates and enslaves people.  So what is sin?

So Augustine interpret sin as not an existing substance, but “a lack of existence.”  So sin doesn’t existence by itself, but when your existence is somehow lacking in some part or is corrupted, then sin manifests itself.

Yes I was reading this and awfully get confused by it, when BAM God shows me a cool and shockingly amazing analogy that will turn this concept CRYSTAL CLEAR.

IT’S JUST LIKE THE HOLES IN SEMICONDUCTORS!!! What is a hole?? It’s an ABSENCE of an electron!!! It is not a physical particle yet in every way it seems like one.  It moves, it has a positive charge, heck it even have its own wave function and you can compute it’s energy!! But it doesn’t exist; it’s simply a convenient model that physicists use to model the absence of an electron, and when an electron encounters a hole they simply disappear (because the absence of electron is filled up by the incoming electron) in a process call annihilation.

And dude the analogy goes even further; so everyone’s like a silicon!! Holes always exist silicon because thermal energy will also create electron-hole pairs, there’s no way to get rid of them unless you go to absolute zero temperature (at which point the amount of thermal energy = 0), and that is IMPOSSIBLE!!!! In the same way, only God can cleanse us of our sins!!!

Man o man everyone should go studying quantum mechanics or take some semiconductor physics class.  It makes everything crystal clear.
