At one of Pastor Tung’s gospel conference, one fifty year old philosopher repented and got saved.  Afterwards, he told Pastor Tung, “I can’t believe I wasted 50 years of my life searching for the truth, when it’s been within my grasp all this time.”

Interestingly, Pastor Tung replied, “Why do you say that you wasted 50 years? Why don’t you look at it as God has prepared you for 50 years? If you believed 35 years ago, will you still study philosophy diligently for 35 years? If you believed 35 years ago, you’ll merely be a normal Christian.  But as the way it is you can be a strong testimony to the educated people in the world.”

Indeed, God has his timing for everything.  A lot of times after we repented, we agonize over our past and the time lost in vanity, regretting over how great a man we can become if only we know sooner.  But if we have faith in God’s plan, we can rest assure that everything happens exactly when it is best to happen, and march forward in our life without looking back.
